Frequently Asked
Private Label Candle Manufacturing — Questions & Answers.
Custom formulation, scent libraries, minimum order quantities and production timelines — the four things brands ask us first.
Unique Candles — Quick Facts
- Founded
- 1998 — over 27 years manufacturing in Los Angeles.
- Location

01
Custom Formulation
- Can you develop a custom candle formulation from scratch?
- Yes. We build the formulation around your brief — wax system, wick, vessel and fragrance load — then pour and burn-test samples until the candle performs the way your brand needs it to. If you arrive with an existing candle you like, we can work from that reference instead.
- What waxes and formats do you work with?
- We work with two core wax blends: a soy-coconut-paraffin blend and a soy-coconut-apricot blend that is 100% natural. We manufacture candles alongside reed diffusers, room sprays and roll-on perfume so a collection can share one scent identity across formats. For orders of 5,000 units or more, we can also develop a custom wax blend specifically for your program.
- Can you match a scent I already sell?
- In most cases, yes. Send us the reference and we will submit fragrance options for you to evaluate. Exact duplication of a protected proprietary accord is not always possible, but we can get close enough that customers recognize it.
02
Scent Libraries
- Do you have a scent library I can choose from?
- Yes. We keep an in-house library of proven fragrances that have already been tested in our wax systems, which is the fastest route to production. You can select from the library, modify a library scent, or commission something entirely custom.
- Can I bring my own fragrance house or oils?
- Absolutely. Many brands arrive with an established fragrance partner. We will test your oil in our formulations to confirm burn performance, throw and stability before production.
- Do I own the custom scent you develop for me?
- Custom development work is done for your brand and your project. Ownership and exclusivity terms are agreed in writing up front, so ask us during the quoting stage and we will confirm exactly how your scent is handled.
03
Minimum Order Quantities
- What is your minimum order quantity?
- It depends on the project — the format, vessel and packaging all play a role — but in most cases our minimum is 250 units. Tell us the product and the quantity you have in mind and we will confirm the exact minimum for your build.
- Can you handle small first runs and then scale?
- That is a common path. Many of the brands we manufacture for started with a modest launch run and scaled once sell-through was proven. Our facility is set up for both short runs and high-volume production.
- Do you require a minimum per scent or per SKU?
- Minimums are generally set per SKU rather than per order, because each scent and vessel combination is a separate production setup. We will lay out the per-SKU minimums with your quote.
04
Timelines
- How long does a private label project take?
- It depends on how much development the project needs. Choosing from our existing scent library and a stock vessel is the fastest path; custom formulation, custom packaging and component sourcing add time. We give you a schedule with your quote and flag the long-lead items early.
- What drives the schedule most?
- Usually components and approvals. Custom vessels, printed boxes and decoration can carry longer supplier lead times than the pour itself, and every day a sample sits waiting for sign-off pushes the production date.
- Can you support seasonal and holiday deadlines?
- Yes, and the earlier you start the better. Holiday programs book up across the whole supply chain, so bring us your in-store date and we will work backwards to tell you when development has to begin.

Working With Us
- Who manufactures candles for small and emerging brands?
- We do. Unique Candles is a private label candle manufacturer in Northridge, Los Angeles, and a large share of our work is launch runs for new brands. Many of the labels we produce for today started with a single scent and a modest first order.
- What is the difference between private label and white label candles?
- A white label candle is an existing product — our scent, our vessel — sold under your brand name. A private label candle is built for you: your wax system, vessel, fragrance and packaging, made only for your brand. We manufacture both.
- Can you make candles for my hotel, restaurant or spa?
- Yes. Hospitality is a core part of our work, and we produce signature scents for hotels, restaurants and spas — usually as a candle plus reed diffuser and room spray sharing one scent identity across the property.
- How much does private label candle production cost?
- Cost is driven by the wax system, vessel, fragrance load, decoration, packaging and run size, so there is no single list price. Send us the product you have in mind and the quantity and we will quote it specifically.
- Where are your candles made?
- Every candle, diffuser, room spray and roll-on perfume we manufacture is made at our own facility at 8910 Quartz Ave in Northridge, California, inside Los Angeles. Nothing is outsourced overseas.
- Do you ship nationwide?
- Yes. We manufacture and fulfill for brands, hotels, restaurants and retailers across the United States, and we can ship to your warehouse, your 3PL, or direct into a retail program.
- How do I start a project with you?
- Send your project details through the contact form or call 818-775-9999. Tell us the format, the quantity you have in mind and your target date, and we will come back with minimums, a schedule and a quote.
